My name is Lois Herr, and I ask for your support in my bid to be your state senator in District 48, which includes all of Lebanon County and portions of Dauphin and York counties.
The stakes could not be higher.
Residents of the 48th District and Pennsylvania have not been well served by efforts by the Republican-dominated state Legislature to roll back advances in health care, public education, and the environment, among other crucial areas of concern for taxpayers. The rank partisanship of the GOP, as displayed by efforts to sue Democrats—and only Democrats—on the state Supreme Court over Congressional redistricting, is part of an attempt to silence critics that only stalls further progress. Regrettably, my opponent is a leader among these Republican obstructionists.
Nothing will change unless we change the way business is conducted in Harrisburg and, for voters in the 48th District, that begins by changing who we elect to represent us in the state Senate. I ask that you consider my candidacy whether you are a Democrat, Republican, or Independent.
I have had a long and successful career in business and education, but it is service to my community that has given me the most satisfaction. Whether as a borough council member, president of my local Rotary Club or chair of a countywide planning commission, this service has given me keen insight into the needs and concerns of my fellow citizens. Key to my success is an ability to bring people together to solve problems, an ability that is desperately needed in the state Senate. You can read about my career and community service here.
I look forward to speaking with many of you about your concerns for the 48th District and Pennsylvania, and I hope you will join our efforts to make life better for all of our citizens.
